Funeral services for Jerry Glidewell, age 60, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Dr. Darin Wood officiating. Burial will be at Still Waters Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Mr. Glidewell passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in Tyler. He was born December 1, 1953 in Kountze, Texas. Jerry worked at the Austin American Statesman, was a former fireman with the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Department and worked in management at Bill McRae Ford and Stage Stores. He was a deacon who was active with the youth group at Central Baptist Church, Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the Goodfellows Sunday School class. He loved to fish and hunt. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Allen and Wanda Glidewell; brother, Charles Glidewell. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Glidewell of Jacksonville; sons, David Glidewell and wife Rachel of Jacksonville, Tim Glidewell and wife Susie of Jacksonville; daughter, Michelle Kearney and husband Jason of Rusk; brothers, Jimmy Glidewell, Jackie Glidewell and wife Pam, and Anthony Glidewell and wife Judi, all of Zavalla; grandchildren, Tristen, Taylor, Kyndle and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Goodfellows Sunday School class. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
