James's Story

James Hugh Glass, also known as Jimmy Glass to those whom knew him, left his earthly home on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 4:26 in the afternoon, while in the presence of his loving family surrounding him as the angels came and took him to the Heavenly Gates and his wife was embracing him in her arms as he went to meet his Heavenly Father.
Jimmy was born June 25, 1935 in Cherokee County to John and Eunice (Jennings) Glass. He resided in Jacksonville, TX all his life.
He graduated from Dialville High School then went on to receive his Associates degree from Lon Morris College and his Bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin University. Jimmy almost completed his Master's degree but was drafted into the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Webster Glass, Everett Glass, Moody Glass, Herman Glass, Ernest Glass, Paul Glass, Orland Glass, Hubert Glass, J.M. Glass, Hassie Gresham and Becky Mayfield.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Frances Glass and his daughter, Vanessa Glass Thedford and husband David of Jacksonville. Their children are daughter, Amanda and Christopher Stanaland, Kade Michael, Lily Grace, and Corbin Wayne; son, Grant and Brittany Thedford; daughter, Andrea and DeWayne Morris. His son, Brent Michael Glass and his wife Peggy and their three children, Megan Glass Leinback her husband Matt, Avery, son Blake and Michelle Glass and son Cameron. He is also survived by a sister, Beulah Glass Creekmur of Overton; a brother, Paul Glass; many nieces, nephews, relatives and many amazing Christian brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 5th from 1 to 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
A funeral service is scheduled at 2 o'clock in the afternoon Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Rev. Don Copeland, Rev. Larry Barker, and Rev. James Blaylock officiating. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Pallbearers will be Blake Glass, Cameron Glass, Dewayne Morris, Todd Travis, Paul Travis, Ryan Travis, Grant Thedford and Matt Leinback. Honorary pallbearers are Deacons of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Dick Turner, Ronny Travis, Phillip Canup and Mike McDuff.
