H. Wayne Sherman, affectionately known as "Pappy" passed away peacefully Sunday evening, March 20, 2016. He was surrounded by his family that loved him so much.
Wayne was born to Herman and Flora Sherman November 11, 1940. He grew up in Troup and graduated from Troup High School and Tyler Junior College. He served in the United States Army and retired from Kelly-Springfield in 2000, after 38 years. He was a Mason and served as a Past Master.
In his later years, Pappy enjoyed his garden, traveling with Betty, and attending his grandchildren's ball games.
He survived by his wife Betty Sherman, Jacksonville; sister, Maxine and W.C. Anderson; Elysian Fields; son, Tim and Jana Sherman, Chandler; grandsons, Aaron Sherman, Idaho and Andrew Sherman, Chandler; stepfamily includes Joe and Dale Rhea, Flint; Lisa, Tony, Landon, Matthew, Jessica, Michael, Chapel Hill; David and Holly Rhea, Megan and Jillian.
Visitation with family will begin at 10 o'clock in the morning Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. A graveside service with Masonic Rites will follow at 11 o'clock in the morning at Meador Cemetery in Jacksonville. Bro. Sean Little will officiate. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
