Funeral services for Glenn A. Miller, age 94, of Rusk are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2016 in the First Presbyterian Church in Rusk with Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Interment will be in Holcomb Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
Mr. Miller passed away October 20, 2016 in a Jacksonville hospital. He was born June 25, 1922 in San Augustine, TX to the late Inlow Lee and Nina Mathews Miller. Mr. Miller was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rusk and owner of Mathews-Miller Department Store in Rusk. He served in the United States Marines during World War II in the South Pacific and was a Masonic Lodge Member for 75 plus years. Mr. Miller was involved in various other civic organizations in Rusk and also enjoyed family, playing golf and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Holcomb Miller, son, David Holcomb Miller, daughter, Lee Ann Miller, great grandson, Riley Daniel Heavner and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Elizabeth Miller of Rusk, two granddaughters, Jenni Chumley of Nacogdoches, TX, Saran Heavner and husband Patrick of Vienna, West Virginia and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the funeral home.
