Funeral Services for Glendale Pate, 80, of Rusk will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2017 at Covenant Church on the Hill also known as First Church on the Hill, Rusk, under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk with Rev. Jan Pate officiating. Burial to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
She was born July 14, 1937 in Haworth, Oklahoma to the late William Monroe and Zelma Louise Bloodworth, Sr. She went to high school in Jacksonville and operated a produce and grocery store in Rusk from 1962 to 1965. She then went on to Angelina College where she studied nursing. She took her state boards in August 1975. She had certificates from special skills programs for Coronary Nursing, Intensive Care Nursing, and CPR. She worked at Newburns Memorial Hospital from 1972 to 1977. She went to work for Rusk ISD, all campuses as school nurse. She went to work for the State Hospital until went into retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, and scrapbooking.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas E. Pate, Sr, and her son, Thomas E. Pate, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Steve and Pam Pate, Jacksonville, Jan and Susan Pate, Rusk, grandchildren, Bri'Ann Pate and Jeremy Driver, Rusk, Nikki Pate, Rusk, Joseph Glen Pate, Rusk, Steven and Lesslie Pate, North Liberty, Iowa, Spencer and Brandi Pate, Bullard, Dannon and Amber, Pate, Rusk, Jeremy and Amy Pate, Jacksonville, Jan-Michal and Carissa Pate, Rusk, 12 great-grandchildren, sister, Aleda and Steve Smith, Palestine, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Pate, Steven Pate, Jeremy Pate, Jan-Michal Pate, Jeremy Driver and Rodrigo Torres. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bryce Driver, Aiden Pate, Jeran Driver, Kitt Pate, Asher Pate, and Brody Pate.
Visitation will be at 9:30 at the church. A scholarship fund has been created in her name to help a student to become to serve the Lord as a Registered Nurse. Donations for this fund can be made through the church.
