Dorothy Jean Olsen was born to John and Dorothea Wilhelmine Marpe Olsen on January 8, 1928 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She attended Albert Lea schools and graduated with the class of 1946. In 1949, she married her husband, Eugene Kenneth Stolze who was to be with her for 68 years until her day of rejoicing on Monday.

Dorothy and Eugene were an integral part of maintaining the Society of St. Steven's Food Pantry at the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville.
