Funeral services for Charlotte Gilbert, age 76, of Jacksonville, are scheduled at 2 o'clock in the afternoon Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Bro. David Hallum officiating. She will be laid to rest at Vinson Cemetery.
Mrs. Gilbert passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Tyler surrounded by her family.
She was born July 19, 1941 in Greenville, Texas to Bradford and Myrtie Morgan.
She worked for Gardendale Nursing Home of Jacksonville for many years. Upon retirement, she began quilting and gained a great passion for it. Charlotte was a member of First Baptist Church Quilters and a member Afton Grove Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Richardson High School and Texas Women's University. Charlotte was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the WMA's.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Derrell "Gramps" Gilbert; son, Derek Gilbert; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Jimmie Gilbert.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Fowler and husband Cory of Jacksonville; son, Daniel Adelstein and wife Vicky of Florida; sister, Annette Burch of Bossier, LA; brother-in, Kenneth Gilbert and wife Sandra of Houston. She was known as "Nana" to her beloved grandchildren, Morgan Birdwell, Alec Gilbert, Brittney and Kyra Adelstein and to her great-grandchildren, Emma Birdwell, Ryley Birdwell and Anna Marrow; extended family, Brittney Birdwell and Brandon Marrow; lifelong friends, Bobby and Suzanne Joyce; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Morgan Birdwell, Alec Gilbert, Ul Minter, Brad Joyce, Jeff Joyce, and Jeff Taylor.
Visitation will begin on Friday, January 5, 2018 and friends are cordially invited to visit with Charlotte's family from 5 to 7o'clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
