Charlie was a veteran, serving in the US Navy during World War II. He was born in Cedarvale, Texas December 29, 1920 and graduated from Purdon High School in Purdon, Texas. He lived in Houston for many years, but moved to his farm in the Van/Lindale area in 1970, eventually retiring from the Coca-Cola in Tyler, Texas. When his health began failing in 2009, he moved to Jacksonville, Texas to be near one of his daughters.
His passion in his youth was pitching softball. He was a kind and generous man who could fix anything. He taught his daughters they could do anything boys could do, in a time when that was not generally accepted.
Special thanks go out to the wonderful care that was given during his lengthy illness to Texas Oncology, Grace Home Health, Heart to Heart Hospice, Carter Blood Center and to all of you who donate blood. An extra special thank you goes out to the staff, nurses and doctors of Cristus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital Jacksonville. Words cannot express our appreciation for the true love you showed Mr. Charlie all these years. He loved you all.
Mr. Ward will be interred at West Shady Grove Cemetery with a private gathering of the immediate family.
