A funeral service for Carroll McGregor, age 82, of Jacksonville, will be conducted at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon Saturday, March 5, 2016 at The First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville. Rev. Doug Wintermute and Rev. Jacob Smith will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Meador Cemetery.
Carroll passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, in Tyler.
He was born January 8, 1934, in Jacksonville to Maurice and Audrey McGregor.
Carroll was a member and usher of First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville. He was also a member of the Wesley Sunday School class. He was a 32nd degree mason, a member of the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years, as well as the East Texas Horse Show Association. Carroll raised and showed horses. In his dedication to show horses and events with horses he won the coveted World Champion during his career.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Lanier.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Bobbie McGregor, Jacksonville, a brother in-law, R.C. Hassell, of Tyler, a sister in-law, Andra Hassell, of Reklaw, his extended family including Dianna and Glenn Smith, Julie and Dean Harvey, and Janna and Todd Chancey all of Jacksonville. He is also survived by the grandchildren and great grandchildren of Wanda and Ray Patton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Les Hassell, Keith Gayle, Ricky Hassell, Roger Hassell, Glenn Smith, Dean Harvey, Todd Chancey, Kraig Harvey, Chad Bellar, Tanner Chancey, Will Chancey, and the Wesley Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, March 5, 2016, and friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon until service time at First United Methodist Church, Jacksonville.
