Bobby Joe “Bob” Seagroves, 71, of Tyler, Texas passed away peacefully, Friday, January 22, 2016. Born in Jacksonville, Texas to John Samuel and Lula Opal Seagroves, he grew up in Jacksonville. Bob married Melba Covington July 9, 1966. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Burks-Walker-Tippitt Funeral Home. Bob is a 1963 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from August 13, 1965 to when he was honorably discharged August 8, 1969; during this time, he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. In the early ‘70’s, he attended Faith Bible College in Tyler. He spent the last 14 years working as a courier for Trinity Mother Frances. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Opal Seagroves and brothers, L. Ray Daft and Donald Lee Daft. Bob is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Melba, daughter Kindra Broughton, daughter Jami (Michael) Jones, son Bobby Joe Seagroves II (Krista), son John Russell Seagroves (Casey), grandchildren Colby Stone, Kaitlynn Stone, Madison Pilkinton, Abigail Jones, Bailey Seagroves, Emma Seagroves, Larissa Seagroves, James Michael Jones, Heidi Seagroves, great grandchildren Greyson Cole Stone, Kinsley Ann Miller, and his brother Sammy Seagroves (Rita) and many nieces and nephews. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He delighted himself in the Lord, loved spending time with his family, enjoyed fellowship with his church family, and had a fondness for watching television sitcoms. He will be greatly missed. Services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Burks-Walker-Tippitt Funeral Home. Graveside will be at Old Palestine Cemetery in Alto following the service. Pallbearers will be Adan Meza, Bobby Boykin, L. Ray Daft, Jr., Michael Jones, Colby Stone, and Erik Edgar. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Salvation Army, PATH or the charity of your choice.
