Bobbie Jean Peoples Johnson


Services for Bobbie Jean Peoples, 81, of Jacksonville, will be held on Monday, August 5, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at Sweet Union Baptist Church with the Reverend Louis White, grandson, as eulogist. Burial will follow at Jacksonville City Cemetery under the direction of Community Funeral Home of Jacksonville.
Mrs. Johnson passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019. She was born on August 6, 1937, in Jacksonville, Texas, to Audry Peoples and Odell Boyd. Bobbie professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and united with the New Hope Baptist Church. She attended Churchill Elementary and Fred Douglass High School.
She provided domestic services in the homes of the Thigpen, Tollett, Chancellor and Dublin families. She nurtured their children as though they were her very own. She was also a compassionate caregiver for Rose Wheat.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Audry Peoples and Odell Boyd; husband, Harold Lee Johnson; son, James Session; daughter, Beverly Session; brothers, Edward Neal Peoples, Lelton Peoples, Artis Hinton, Bobbie R. Anderson and Kenneth Hunter; sisters, Sharon Tilley, Violet Session and Bobbie R. Johnson.
She is survived by her loving family, including her sons, Wayne Session and Willie Johnson, Jacksonville, Texas; daughter, Della (David) Herndon, Troup, Texas, Cynthia (Ben) Duffie and Deborah Johnson, Jacksonville, Texas; brothers, Odell (Jean) Hinton, Norman C. Willis, Jacksonville, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was loved by so many in her hometown of Jacksonville, Texas, and will be missed by everyone. Jacksonville has lost a wonderful friend. Bobbie shared God's word and taught His goodness.
