Alvin Walter Coleman JACKSONVILLE -- A funeral service for Alvin Walter Coleman, age 77 of Jacksonville, is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Dr. David Birdsong and Truman Leach will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:30am.
He passed away Monday, March 4, 2019, in Jacksonville.
Alvin was born February 28, 1942, in Sarepta, Louisiana to William and Estella (King) Coleman.
Alvin was the General Manager of United Bumper Exchange for over 25 years before joining English Color and Paint in Longview in 1995. Since 2000, he was a co-owner of All-Star Collision in Jacksonville, and then retired in 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Brandon Crowson; three brothers and three sisters.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Kay Coleman of Jacksonville; children, Rene Birdsong and husband David of Nederland, Duane Coleman and wife Teresa of Forney, and Brian Coleman and wife Deanna of Carrollton. His sisters are Louise Bandy of Plain Dealing, LA, Josephine Coil of Spring Hill, LA, and Pauline Brazell of Lubbock. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Rachel Birdsong, Josh Birdsong, Carissa Davis and husband Jarod, Rhett Coleman, Drew Coleman, Makenna Coleman, Will Coleman and wife Tayla, Elliot Coleman and Bennett Coleman; and dozens of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are James Kyle, Joe Sumrall, Jim Eyre, George Clement, Sid Garner, Tim Oliver, Dwayne Wallace, Teo Gama, Billy Weeks, James Felts and David Felts.
Rather than customary condolences, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church in Jacksonville or Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701
